Course Introduction

This essential training program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to conduct atmospheric gas testing safely and effectively in potentially hazardous environments such as confined spaces, process plants, and maintenance areas. Understanding the risks of flammable, toxic, and oxygen-deficient atmospheres is critical for safe entry and work operations.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with gas detection equipment, interpreting readings, and understanding safe limits in compliance with international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, and AS/NZS 2865).

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the hazards associated with various atmospheric gases

  • Understand the principles of gas detection and monitoring

  • Safely use and calibrate gas detection instruments

  • Interpret test results and apply decision-making criteria

  • Implement safety protocols based on gas testing outcomes

  • Maintain and document atmospheric monitoring records
