Course Introduction
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) is a key piece of UK legislation designed to protect workers from exposure to harmful substances in the workplace. Organizations handling chemicals, fumes, dusts, vapors, or biological agents must assess and control the risks to employee health and ensure regulatory compliance.
This 2-day training course provides participants with practical guidance on understanding, applying, and managing COSHH within a variety of work environments. Through a mix of presentations, case examples, and hands-on exercises, the course ensures that employers and safety professionals can implement effective exposure controls and protect occupational health.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Understand the legal requirements and purpose of COSHH 2002
• Identify hazardous substances and assess associated health risks
• Implement appropriate control measures including PPE, ventilation, and substitution
• Develop and maintain COSHH assessments and safety documentation
• Monitor exposure, health surveillance, and control effectiveness
Key Benefits of Attending
• Avoid regulatory penalties through full compliance with COSHH 2002
• Protect staff from illness, injury, and long-term occupational diseases
• Develop confidence in conducting COSHH assessments and risk controls
