Course Introduction

This awareness course focuses on identifying and managing risks associated with respirable crystalline silica (RCS) and other construction-related dusts. With increasing cases of silicosis and lung disease in high-risk industries, this training empowers workers, supervisors, and safety personnel with the skills to recognize dust hazards, implement effective controls, and comply with WHS regulations.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand what silica and other hazardous dusts are

  • Identify common sources in construction, mining, and manufacturing

  • Recognize health effects and symptoms of overexposure

  • Apply legislative WHS requirements

  • Implement hierarchy of controls and engineering solutions

  • Promote best practices in dust monitoring and PPE usage

Key Benefits of Attending

Silica dust exposure is a growing concern in many industries and can cause permanent, life-threatening diseases. This training helps participants reduce risk, increase workplace safety, and stay compliant with national WHS standards.
