Course Introduction
This course equips participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to provide effective first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in emergency situations. The training aligns with current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, covering how to respond to injuries, medical conditions, and life-threatening emergencies until professional help arrives.
Course Objectives
Participants will learn to:
- Respond confidently to emergencies, including DRSABCD protocol
- Provide CPR on adults, children, and infants using a manikin
- Administer basic first aid for bleeding, burns, fractures, asthma, anaphylaxis, and shock
- Use and maintain an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Follow workplace safety procedures and legal considerations related to first aid

- Scene safety, casualty assessment, DRSABCD action plan
- Module 4: Simulation – Incident Scene Practice (02:00 – 03:30)
- Group exercises on emergency scene setup and triage
Day 2: CPR and AED Proficiency

Day 4: Trauma Management and Advanced Scenarios

- Immobilization, sling application, handling spinal injuries

Day 5: Integration, Practice & Final Assessment

Certification
Successful participants will receive a Nationally Recognized Statement of Attainment for:
