PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN THE OIL & GAS INDUSTRY

“Delivering Complex Projects Safely, On Time, and Within Budget in High-Risk Energy Environments”

Course Schedule

Date Venue Fees (Face-to-Face)
19 – 21 Nov 2025 Dubai – UAE USD 2495 per delegate

Course Introduction

Projects in the oil & gas industry—whether upstream exploration, midstream transport, or downstream refining—are among the most technically demanding and capital-intensive in the world. Managing such projects requires not only mastery of project management disciplines but also an understanding of sector-specific risks, regulations, and stakeholder dynamics.

This 3-day intensive course provides participants with a practical framework to manage oil & gas projects from concept through execution. It combines project management best practices (PMBOK®, AACE, and others) with industry case studies to address scheduling, cost control, risk management, contractor oversight, and health and safety in energy project delivery.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Understand the project lifecycle in oil & gas—from FEED to commissioning
• Apply project planning, scheduling, and budgeting tools in complex environments
• Manage contracts, vendors, and EPCM interfaces effectively
• Control project risks, costs, and timelines under uncertainty
• Ensure regulatory, safety, and stakeholder compliance throughout execution

Key Benefits of Attending

• Gain the tools to plan and deliver oil & gas projects efficiently and safely
• Strengthen coordination with engineers, contractors, regulators, and finance teams
• Minimize overruns, change orders, and interface issues
• Ensure projects meet production targets, budget constraints, and safety KPIs
• Learn from global best practices and failure lessons in oil & gas megaprojects

Intended Audience

This program is designed for:
• Project Managers and Engineers in the Oil & Gas Sector
• Construction, Field, and Commissioning Managers
• Contract, Cost, and Procurement Controllers
• Exploration, Drilling, and Refinery Project Team Members
• Any professional involved in energy sector project delivery

Individual Benefits

Key competencies that will be developed include:
• Integrated project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
• Cost estimation, change control, and earned value analysis (EVA)
• Contractor management and performance monitoring
• Regulatory and stakeholder management in high-risk environments
• Project risk, HSE, and quality management across project phases

Organization Benefits

Upon completing the training course, participants will demonstrate:
• Improved project execution discipline and on-time delivery
• Better cost forecasting, contract management, and procurement integration
• Reduced project delays, safety incidents, and non-compliance risks
• Enhanced project governance and visibility for executive oversight
• Stronger capability to manage complexity in capital project portfolios

Instructional Methdology

The course follows a blended learning approach combining theory with practice:
• Strategy Briefings – Project lifecycle, PM frameworks, and oil & gas applications
• Case Studies – Industry examples of successful and failed project execution
• Workshops – WBS creation, schedule analysis, risk registers, and cost planning
• Peer Exchange – Cross-functional experience sharing
• Tools – Project dashboards, control templates, and checklists
