Course Introduction

This nationally recognized training course is designed to provide participants with the skills, knowledge, and accreditation required to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (EWP) with a boom length of 11 meters or more. Participants will be trained in accordance with high-risk work licensing requirements and relevant WHS/OHS standards to ensure they can safely and competently operate EWPs across various industries such as construction, mining, maintenance, and infrastructure.

Day 2: Planning and Preparing for Operation

  • Module 1: Site Inspection, Environmental Considerations (07:30 – 09:30)
  • Module 2: Interpreting Work Orders, Site Drawings & Procedures (09:45 – 11:15)
  • Module 3: Selecting PPE and Safety Controls (11:30 – 01:00)

Day 3: Equipment Checks & Practical Familiarization

  • Module 1: Pre-Start Inspection Procedures and Logs (07:30 – 09:30)
  • Module 2: Identifying Faults and Taking Corrective Action (09:45 – 11:15)
  • Module 3: Controls, Stability, Load Limits & Emergency Descent (11:30 – 01:00)

Day 4: Practical Operation of Boom-Type EWP

  • Module 4: Live Practice – Work at Height Scenarios (02:00 – 03:30)

Day 5: Assessment and Licensing

  • Module 2: Written Assessment – Legislative & Operational Knowledge (09:45 – 11:15)

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the course and assessment will receive:

  • Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0005 – Licence to Operate a Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (Boom length 11 metres or more)
  • Application Support for High-Risk Work Licence (HRWL – WP class) from the relevant state/territory regulator
